As a non-profit we are often in need of a variety of things that would greatly be appreciated and used by our members and to help us further our goals!
Below is a “wish list” of items that we are hoping to either find as a donation or get funding or sponsorship to acquire!
* Donated Printing.
We always have need to print materials!! Any donation towards those expenses would be wonderful!
* Bottled or canned beverages.
Canned or bottled sodas, water, juices, etc. are always welcomed! As long as they are within the expiration date, we would love to have them!
* Shop Towels.
We would love to be able washcloths and towels to be used around the shop. Give us your old and used towels, washcloths, dish towels, cotton t-shirts, anything that makes great rags for the shop!
We would love to be able to get about 60-80 tablecloths that we could dye or reuse for our shows. If you are looking to donate your old tablecloths due to revamping for your establishment, we would LOVE to use them! Or donate queen sized white flat sheets. See them at garage sales and/or thrift shops? Please pick them up for us and donate to the cause!
* Ventilation System for Soldering Bench
We are looking to rebuild our silversmithing bench – somehow all the shop equipment for the jewelry bench has gone missing over the years – it is time to refurbish that for our members – this would be a crucial piece to allowing our members to solder safely! Contact us to get specifics.
Have some old beads that you don;t want anymore? We can always use more donations for our kids area at our show for kids to make bracelets and necklaces!
* Paper Goods – such as toilet paper & paper towels.
We can ALWAYS use donations of unused paper towels and toilet paper!
We can always use more polished, tumbled rocks to use as prizes for kids!!!
* Shop Tools.
Over the years it appears that our tools have walked away. Wrenches, screwdrivers, basic tools would always be welcomed!
* Wire wrapping supplies.
We’d love to get more wire wrapping supplies for our classes and kids activities!!
* Jeweler’s Bench.
We would love to get a hold of another jeweler’s bench for the members to use!
A great thing for checking out saws while they are in use and having on hand for overnight field trips!
* Rechargable batteries w/ recharger.
This would help us be able to use our outdoor walkie talkie sets for when we have different groups going in different directions out in the field where there is no cell phone reception.
* Rolling mill.
For our members to use to roll out metal and wire.
* Light cube and photo lights.
We take pictures of all sorts of things and it would be nice to have a photoshoot setup that belonged to the club.
* Jewelry making tools or supplies.
Again, all our hammers, saws, pliers, wire, vices, all of it has left the club over the years. We want to start building this up again for our members to be able to have as a resource and learning tools.
* Portable PA system.
We would love to acquire one of these for our speakers that do our presentations!
* Lapidary Equipment
If you have equipment that you do not wish to keep, we will happily accept any donations of lapidary equipment or supplies and they will be used to help our members have the best lapidary and earth science resources at their fingertips.
* Permanent Home
Our biggest dream of ALL is to be able to find SMS a permanent home so that we no longer have such an extreme overhead to meet every month. Having to pay such a large amount every month to rent a space for our workshop and club really hits our finances in a major way. But we have a tremendous resource in our club for our area! Our club was one of the very FIRST mineralogical clubs in the state of California! We have been an important mineralogical club in this state since it was founded in 1936. Our dream is to be able to secure a permanent home so that our funds can primarily go back towards supporting our community and school outreach programs, and to develop and expand the resources available to our club members and Sacramento community.
A donation of a small parcel of land with or without a building that we could secure for SMS for the future generations to be able to use would be truly divine. But even donated rent in a facility that would work for a lapidary club with a locked in, long term lease would be a huge blessing! As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, such donation would be tremendous for helping us become a stronger and more developed resource for all of Sacramento!
